They say “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome.” And yet…

Join us for the last in the current series of Group Discussions where we will look into what Acceptance is and how to achieve it. Previously we discussed a range of topics, some requested by you, and a few based on questions I regularly get - Spirituality, The Shadow Self, Romantic Love, Heart-Head Alignment, and Forgiveness most recently.  Acceptance is probably the trickiest of the concepts we’ve discussed so far so I’m going to give a heads up in the flyer

Our lives are filled with repeat patterns and dynamics. We find ourselves with near enough the same partner as a few years ago despite best efforts.  We come up against the same resistance at work despite best efforts.  We have the same issues with friends… despite best efforts.  

Why do we keep getting into the same patterns, often knowing full well the likely outcome yet hoping for a different result, and how can we break this cycle?

I would define Acceptance as realistically evaluating where you’re at in a situation and making an informed decision to either walk away, or rethink a new strategy.  This is more difficult than it sounds because there’s usually a strong emotional attachment to the situation and that heart of ours likes to obscure, confound, delude and seduce. Reality can make a painful bedfellow, so how do you manage to achieve acceptance?
